HALOTESTIN Tablets contain fluoxymesterone, an androgenic hormone.

Fluoxymesterone is a white colored,deodorized, crystalline in texture with a melting point of 240° C. It is practically insoluble in water, sparingly soluble in alcohol, and slightly soluble in chloroform.

Halotestin is used in men as replacement therapy in states correlated with symptoms of absence of testosterone present in the body and in delayed puberty. Halotestin may also be employed in some women for abatement of breast cancer associated with androgen.

Dosage:

• Male hypogonadism( testosterone deficiency syndrome) :- 5 to 20 mg.

In the male—HALOTESTIN (fluoxymesterone) Tablets are indicated for:

Replacement therapy in conditions associated with symptoms of deficiency or absence of endogenous testosterone.

• Hypergonadotropic hypogonadism (congenital or acquired)— primary testicular failure due to undescended testis, contortion.
• Secondary hypogonadism (congenital or acquired)—LHRH deficiency, or pituitary-hypothalamic injury from tumors,or accidents.
• Late bloomer.
• In the female—HALOTESTIN (fluoxymesterone) Tablets are recommended to treat mammary cancer in women.

Drug interactions: 6 x Pharmaqo Halotestin 10mg x 60

• Androgens may increase sensitivity to oral anticoagulants. Anticoagulant dosage has to be reduced to attain or maintain therapeutic hypoprothrombinemia.
• oxyphenbutazone and androgens when administered together, an increase in serum levels of oxyphenbutazone is observed.
• In diabetic patients, the metabolic effects of androgens decrease the concentration of blood glucose and therefore insulin.

• Endocrine and urogenital:-

Female: the most common adverse effects of androgen therapy is absence of menses and occurence of other menstrual irregularities; inhibition of gonadotropin secretion; and development of male physical characteristics including deepening of the voice etc..

Male: breast enlargement,and  frequent  penile erections for greater durations. Oligospermia is also observed.

• Skin and appendages:-

Pilosos, baldness, scaly patches , red skin and acne.

• Fluid and electrolyte disturbances

With holding of electrolytes like :- sodium, chloride, water, potassium, calcium, and inorganic phosphates etc..

• Gastrointestinal

Vomiting , gagging, obstructive jaundice, etc.

• Hematologic

Subduing of clotting factors II, V, VII, and X, leading to excessive bleeding in patients on concomitant anticoagulant therapy, and polycythemia.

• Nervous system

Increased or decreased sex drive , migraine, apprehension, depression.
