Dihydrocodeine is an opioid analgesic. It is employed in the treatment of severe algesia e.g. after major operations , delivery, accidents etc ..

It is also used as an analgesic for a longer period of time if painkillers like paracetamol etc. Doesn’t work.

Mechanism of action:-

First of all Dihydrocodeine is metabolized or changed to dihydromorphine (active metabolite) – which binds to mu opioid receptors.

It obstructs the signals for pain from the central nervous system and brain to the receptors.

Dihydrocodeine is a prescription only medicine.

Standard dihydrocodeine tablets show their full potential within the body in at least  1 and a half and 2 hours. 

Dihydrocodeine is slightly narcotic, thus its intake must be consulted with your doctor.

Dihydrocodeine is employed for the treatment of critical pain, eg. After severe operations , delivery, dental pain, accidents etc…

It can also be used to cure long term pain

breathlessness

Whooping 

Side effects:–

• Constipation or stultification or alimentary stoppage 
• nausea or vomiting or gagging.
• Feeling tired and sleepy
• Perplexity, feeling dizzy and vertigo, apprehension
• Xerostomia 
• Migraine

Contraindications:-

• Hypersensitivity reactions.
• Gastric problems such as spastic colon, mucous colitis, IBS colitis
• Pulmonary issues such as emphysematous, gulping, gasping, allergy.
• Brain injury and patients prone to fits or seizures.
• Hypothyroidism
• Alcohol abuse
• Myasthenia gravis
• Liver or kidney related problems

Dosage: Superdrol 10mg x 100

For patients above 12 years of age:-

30mg tablet – 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours. The maximum dose in 24 hours is 6 tablets.

How to take it:-

Take it as a whole with water or any other drink. Do not crush, chew or break it.

It’s best if taken after or along with food.
