What is Semaglutide ?
Semaglutide is a medicine used to slim down in specific patients, as a hypoglycemia drug and also eliminates cardiovascular problems such as heart attack or stroke in type two diabetes patients thus it comes under the category of anti-diabetic medication and anti-obesity medication. It was developed by Novo Nordisk in 2012. It is a peptide analogue of GLP-1 with a modification in its side chain.
Route of administration:-
It can be administered orally or via a subcutaneous route through injection.
Mechanism of action of Semaglutide:-
It is a glucagon-like 1 peptide (GLP-1) agonist.
It increases the amount of insulin released from beta cells of pancreas and decreases the level of glucagon in the body.
Moreover, it delays emptying of the stomach and also reduces your appetite. When the stomach carries food for a greater time period, it sends signals of “fullness” to the brain.
The result of this process is an influential hunger subduing or vanquishing effect based on the patient’s own capacity to produce insulin. Patients don’t need to go through any surgeries or heavy medication in order to lose weight.
How much weight can you lose consuming semaglutide:-
Such medications must be consumed for at least a span of 3 months to see the desired benefits. It has been observed that 13 – 15 pounds of weight can be lost by using this medication for 3 months and 25- 27 pounds if consumed for 6 months. Thus on an average it can help you reduce at least 5 pounds in a month.
